Poof its over

Why is it that we spend half if not all year waiting for this day? Is it the presents we wait for, the eating frenzy, the long time off or just seeing the pretty lights and being all festive and friendly. I'm not sure myself but it seems that in an instant its all over with. The presents are ripped through, the bellies are full(then the left overs are to be eaten), the days off fly by because you stay so busy with "stuff" that has to be done before 12/24 and the lights are all snuffed out like they never were lite and forget the friendlies everyone is back to grumpy again.
But alas we start another year fresh with high hopes and thoughtful ways. You have to ask yourself did you accomplish what you started out hoping for in 2008. I know I personally didn't but then I can't imagine very many people who did. I think sometimes if we accomplish what we start out with we have to maintain it and is that realistic either. I have several goals for 2009 but don't want to say them out loud or for that matter write them down. Would I have to be more accountable if I did, perhaps but in my own mind I'll keep them to myself. For then if I fail then it is myself that will be disappointed not for everyone to know.
The real reason is or should be is Jesus and his birth. Let us not forget this is his day and not so much for the jolly old man in a red suit. I am thankful for each and every day that I have friends and family that are so near and dear to me. Good night!

It's almost that time again

Well all the presents are wrapped and under the tree, the baking is done and I'm off to bed. But before I go I must just reflect on Christmas past. My dad has been dead now almost 21 years but I still miss him so much around this time of year. My family is going through some hard time right now and I feel that if only dad was here he would make it all better. Perhaps it is the little girl in me that always wanted Daddy to come in and make it so. But as we grow up we have to learn to solve our own problems and work out our own issues, because we have become the daddy's and mom's that our kids look up to.
I face another challenge this week, my oldest child, my son, my boy is moving out on his own. I have been doing fine until today and it has really hit me hard. I sure am going to miss him, he always knows how to cheer me up and make me laugh. I know its his time being 20 he thinks he is a big man now but it still hurts to think he is actually growing up and moving away. I will be okay I guess in time 'cause its just something I have to learn to live with. I'm proud that is able and is mature enough to take on this responsibility(or so he thinks) I guess in the long run it is a reflection on his dad and myself. I am proud of both my kids they are very strong and independent young people. I think I did good.
I sit here crying like a baby, knowing that in the morning my eyes will be so puffy and swollen but nothing a little makeup won't cure. Good night and Merry Christmas Eve to everyone!

Time is what we make it

Good evening good folks, its the end of another week. This end is especially nice because it comes just as my vacation begins. I will be off the next five days just in time for the Christmas holiday. This weekend should finish me up for the present shopping and I can start the wrapping. We had our company Holiday party this week, we all had to bring in a covered dish. It was good, I tried to stay away from the heavier desserts and casseroles. It sure isn't easy this time of year to watch what we eat and get in that extra exercise. I know with every ones schedule it might be dinner on the run and no "ME" time. That is the most important thing, ME time, to reflect on the season and what it means to you and the family.
I lost a very dear cousin a month ago and I know that my uncle and the sisters of this young man are are really hurting this year. We are a very close net family and losing just one is devastating. Kevin had been down on his luck for the past several years and I guess took it to another level in taking his own life. He shall be greatly missed. If we had only known how much he was hurting we could have been there for him with a call, card, a visit. It only takes a minute to reach out and show compassion or a kind word, you never know when that just might be what it takes to bring someone back from that dark hole they feel they are in.

A good smokin day

Good evening or good morning ... depends on when you read this blog. I just had a really good day today. I got up early and did some or most of my Christmas shopping and also took advantage of some good sale for myself. Speaking of Christmas, I just hate it when people use Xmas that really erks me. Its just the Christian thing to do is spell out the word Christ. Enough said. I got home fixed me some lunch, took a nap and then watched a couple of Christmas movies on the Lifetime channel.
But my day went lovely, also so good that you just want to sit back and think about it with a good cigarette. You know I use to spoke before my heart attack. I wasn't a heavy smoker it was about a 1/2 a pack a day habit, so relatively easy to kick for health reasons. But I do still miss it. If you aren't a smoker than you wouldn't understand. The feeling after a meal, with a good cup of coffee or after a having ... well you know. Or that was back in my younger days now its called a roll over. Ha Ha! I miss a cigarette when stressful times come up, like during my drive home or when I get upset with family members. It seemed (or did I just believe) it calmed me down, mellowed me out so to speak. Now I just take a walk to get away from the upset feelings and chew gum on my drive home and remember shout too ... it helps me anyway.
You know after my cardiac surgery my doctor was more concerned that I had stopped smoking than he was with me losing the weight. I found that interesting. Smoking is so bad for all parts of your body and I hope folks will realize that it only contributes to bad health.
10 more shopping days before Christmas... so get busy!

Working Healthy Habits

I know... I know I don't "blog" enough, but then again who has the time to sit here and type. But I guess if you want anything done right you have to work at it .... and I know that better than most I guess. You see I started a journey about 2 years ago to lose weight. This was not only for my health but for the purpose to look better for ME. I joined Weight Watchers and have lost 89 lbs. However(damn those however's), I have gained(damn those gains) back about 10lbs. I have "let myself go" so to speak. One thing for sure I have let go is my exercising. I use to get on the treadmill every night except Sat and do an hour. I also have gotten lazy in my eating habits, not being aware of how much or of what goes into my mouth.
But this week I am back on track, exercising and eating smaller portions and better control. I know that the key is the exercise, it really makes me feel better and gives me that push to not eat. So a habit is not always bad.... it should be a healthy habit. Well enough for now, its time to nite nite!

A good Day

I sit here tonight gathering my thought for the upcoming weekend. I am excited about meeting my old friends for lunch next week. They always remind me of good times I once had at work. The job I currently have is more or less stressful. I know I should control the stresses in my life but with the way the world is it gets harder and harder every day. As we know stress is one of the worse thing on the heart and should be limited as much as possible.
I feel that exercise is a good way to relieve stress also singing along with a good song... in my car... loudly...even though I don't know all the words. I sometime shout WHoooooo Hooooo just to get it OUT. I don't know what "it" is but I always laugh and it makes me feel better. Try it sometime, might make you feel better.
